Kayla was introduced to yoga in 2008 in a body movement class. During that time, she used yoga in the context of clearing the mind and preparing the body for rehearsal or performance as a stage actor and director. As she began to deepen her yoga practice, she noticed the positive changes in her day-to-day life and overall perspective. Yoga has allowed for her to become more clear, strong, and focused; acting as an outlet to experience and work through what is not serving her in a healthy and productive way. It is her intention to share yoga’s power to release tension in a way that is both a mindful and holistic approach to working with the body, breath, mind, and spirit.
As poet Robert Frost said, “The only way out is through.”
In Kayla’s classes, you can expect to move with your breath, connect with the stability and integrity of your body, establish and strengthen your center, and release physical, mental and emotional tension.
She is deeply grateful for her teachers Daren Friesen, Marcelyn Cole, Alie McManus, Gabriel Halpern, and Kim Wilcox for expanding her horizons, challenging and nurturing her, and creating space for healing and discovery. She also fortunate to study with master teachers Leann Carey, Tias Little, Aadil Palkhivala, Seane Corn, Saul David Raye, and Nicholai Bachman on a yearly basis. She received her CYT from Moksha Yoga Center in 2013.
Kimberly has a BA from Purdue University in Community Health Education. She was a personal trainer and owner of Unique Physique Personal Training Co. for 10 years. She left training in 2005 to travel in Asia for 6 months. It was there that she found her passion for yoga and was instantly drawn to the yogic path of peace and inner reflection.
In 2012, Kimberly graduated from the Moksha Yoga Teacher Program under the guidance of Daren Friesen. She is an RYT with the Yoga Alliance and is also certified from Global Family Yoga to teach children’s yoga classes. She is grateful to have studied with these master teachers: Gabriel Halpbern, Sean Corn, Aaidil Palkhivala, Gary Kraftsow and Deepok Chopra. For greater personal growth, Kimberly recently traveled to India to study and practice in the spiritual birth place of yoga.
Kimberly’s intention for class is to create a supportive environment that cultivates a sense of peace, self awareness and bliss. Expect a challenging yet mindful practice that is grounded in alignment with artful sequences. Kimberly believes a regular practice of asana (physical practice), pranayama (breath work) and meditation clears the distractions of the mind, creating space for the true wisdom of the heart.
When Kimberly is off the mat, you can find her making green smoothies, dancing with her 7 year old twin girls, running with her dog, listening to the Rolling Stones, being grateful, traveling Earth, or enjoying a glass of wine with friends.
