For millennia, humans have sought to maximize health and minimize suffering and disease. This inquiry has been going on particularly long in India, giving rise to the sister sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda. Though our modern day stresses may look very different than when these practices were first discovered, they provide a valuable complement to modern medical discourse.
Yoga and Ayurveda offer us a powerful and poetic language for understanding our bodies in all their complexity and how external influences impact our health. They identify the critical features of our daily lives that have the greatest effect on our health and well-being. And they make suggestions for how to optimize our daily routine – called dinacharya.
This four-part series will explore the fundamental elements of creating dinacharya that best supports your particular needs and constitution. You can drop in to any class, though taking the whole series will provide a more comprehensive understanding.
