Eddie Stern @YogaNow
Oct. 31-Nov. 2

Eddie Stern, A luminous teacher within the Yoga world, is offering Mysore and led Ashtanga classes Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Yoga Therapy workshop Saturday afternoon.

New comers and seasoned practitioners will find his teaching style approachable and exact.

This is a rare opportunity to study with one of the great contemporary yoga teachers. He studied with and spent time with Guruji (Shri K. Pattabi Jois), translated and published Guruji’s book, Yoga Mala, and is highly respected by students around the world.
Eddie is a valued contributor to Yoga’s growth and understanding in the US. He has been teaching since 1989 and is the director of Ashtanga Yoga New York (AYNY). He published four books on Pattabhi Jois and Ashtanga Yoga, and a philosophical journal on Indian thought, Namarupa.

From Yoga Now’s workshop description:
K. Pattabhi Jois, who taught a specialized form of Ashtanga Yoga, once famously said, ‘when the mind is quiet, the asana is correct’, a statement that sums up the entire goal- and means – of yoga. The goal of yoga is to quiet the mind so that we can have a deep experience of ourselves, or of consciousness, and the means is through bodily postures and breathing. But what happens when the postures don’t seem to bring about a quiet mind? What other pieces can be filled in that will assist in the endeavor towards a quiet mind? Pattabhi Jois had a wide range of tools, but his asana sequences are by far the most prevalent and well known. In this three day workshop, we will practice some of the other methods that Pattabhi Jois taught, including philosophy, chanting, and pranayama, practices that had a wonderful dimension to the inner practices that help define a contemplative practice.
