illumine is a proud sponsor of the Green Metropolis Festival
Once again, Chicago’s Green Metropolis Fair will bring the local conscious community together on April 27. This year, the Fair will once again be held at the historic and recently renovated Irish American Heritage Center, 4626 N. Knox.
Now in year 5, the Green Metropolis Fair will feature 100+ sustainable, free trade, and organic exhibitors; family friendly activities and entertainment; and conference topics covering all aspects of green living.
Many local businesses will be part of the Green Metropolis Fair’s Retail Marketplace, and their special handcrafted, artisanal products, along with fair trade offerings from around the World, will delight the most discerning shoppers. Wonderful local food and drink from a wide variety of purveyors will be available throughout the day, and local services like CSAs (community supported agriculture), nutritionists and chiropractors, and other sustainable businesses will be featured in the table sponsors area.
Yoga, and other wellness activities, and ways to make your home healthier and more energy efficient year round will be spotlighted. Children will enjoy petting rabbits, goats, and other furry creatures. And everyone will appreciate the beautiful Irish American Heritage Center, with plenty of free parking. Conveniently located off 90/94, it is easily accessible to the CTA Blue Line: Montrose stop and multiple bus routes. Or, ride your bike – bike parking will be available!
Organic gardening is a special focus of the Green Metropolis Fair, and workshops and activities on a wide array of gardening topics, including urban organic gardening, extending the growing season, composting, keeping backyard chickens and bees, and growing and preserving fruits and vegetables will be featured. Master Gardeners and Master Composters from the University of Illinois Extension Service will be on hand to answer your toughest gardening questions, and vegetable and herb plants, as well as flowers, will be available for purchase.
Again this year the Green Metropolis Fair is presented by the Green Parent’s Network. For more information, visit www.greenmetropolisfair.com, or contact Mary Beth Rebedeau @ mbr@greenparentsnetwork.com.
