Love Warriors.
I see you.
Showing up in your lives. Even if you don’t leave your home. And I see those who must leave and are in precarious situations. You continue to work, manage and lead your families, engage in your community, create, support, guide even at a distance. Then you show up on the mat. Making sense of the quarantine and riots, making “cents” during the pandemic, and sensing the refuge of your practice. So many questions, no easy answers, but there you are. YOU SHOW UP. I see you. You are a love warrior.
And I know it’s not easy. This quarantine took us by surprise and we shifted…immediately. To Zoom, to less movement around town and around the world, to wearing masks, to wiping down our groceries. We made some drastic changes. It felt like isolation. Then it felt like digital screen overload, and weirdly it felt like days went by in a blink. Some of us lost loved ones to COVID or old age and grieving rituals felt incomplete. Now we’re figuring out how to live forward given the virus, how to take action because all lives matter.
In some ways life and our experience of the world got limited. And in other ways, we saw an opportunity to reflect, meditate, create, cook, connect, express, be.
Thank you, seriously, for not going dark, not despairing for long, getting support, calling a friend when you were in need, being the friend in deed. Thank you for asking deeper questions.
Thank you for feeling your feelings, even the doubt, fear, anger, loneliness, worry and more. Thank you for remembering what it feels like to be grounded, to be expansive on demand, to be strong and soft in the same moment no matter how chaotic, perverse or sad. Thank you for being willing to be in stillness and to notice our twitches and itches, our cravings and longings.
It has been my honor to be part of your life as a friend and yoga teacher.
I know when we gather on Sundays that you need more than just asana and doing fancy poses to good music. I know you show up because we need to remember together to breathe deeply and move slowly. We need to feel our bodies and our hearts. I know that movement on our mat moves those stuck parts of our souls that are scared, tired, broke and broken. I hope I’ve been able to serve those deeper inner needs, to support your wellness.
Please join me on Sundays 9:30-11am via Zoom at Namaskar yoga for yoga to power your heart. (I will be out of town and not teaching Sunday June 21, 2020.
Please let me know if there is ANYTHING I can do for you. It would be my pleasure to support you.
I’m working on a lot of projects, so stay tuned.
With so much love,
Lourdes
